ACBF Senior Classic scheduled for Monday at Edgewood

Seniors will suit up one more time to go against each other in the Ashtabula County Basketball Foundation Classic on Monday at Edgewood High School.
The girls game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys contest.
Edgewood's Randy Vencill and Saint John's Nick Iarocci are coaching in the girls game, while Edgewood's John Bowler and Geneva's Eric Bowser are leading the boys teams.
"I always enjoy coaching All-Star games after playing 22 games and every second matter is fun playing basketball just for the fun of playing basketball," Iarocci said.
Vencill is looking forward to the opportunity.
"Just to be part of one more memory for them in their senior year us a privledge," he said.
Bowser considers it an honor to coach one of the Senior Classic teams.
"Most of these guys have dedicated a huge chunk of their lives to participate in a sport that they love at the high school level," he said. "It's a special opportunity to be a small part of their basketball journey as it comes to an end — at least for most of them.
"It's also fun to see some of their personalities come out in a little more of a relaxed setting."
Bowler likes to coach players from other teams, and watching them mesh with his own squad participants.
"There is a ton of talent in Ashtabula County," he said. "It's always fun to coach in the All-Star game, and always nice to see it all at the same time in one gymnasium."
There is a 3-point shootout at halftime of each of the games. In addition, Most Valuable Player awards will be presented on the boys and girls side.
Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students. All proceeds benefit the ACBF Scholarship Fund.
