AC Milan announces Zlatan Ibrahimović tests positive for COVID-19

Soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimović has tested positive for COVID-19, AC Milan announced Thursday.

The club said the Swedish striker tested positive following a second round of swab tests ahead of Thursday night's Europa League qualifying match against Bodø/Glimt.

AC Milan "has informed the relevant authorities and the player has been promptly placed in quarantine at home," the team said in a statement. All of Ibrahimović's teammates and club staff have tested negative.

Ibrahimović, who will turn 39 on Oct. 3, played in Milan's 2-0 victory over Bologna on Monday in Serie A competition.

This is Ibrahimović's second stint with Milan, where he played between 2010-2012. He spent two seasons (2018-19) playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer.
