Aaron Rodgers' torn Achilles confirmed. Jets player has a complete tear, report says

An MRI has confirmed that Jets' quarterback and four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles tendon Monday night.

The news - first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, who cited sources - all but guarantees Rodgers will not play again this season.

For a professional athlete, surgery to repair the tendon is the likely outcome. The type of surgery will depend on the severity of the damage.

The Hospital for Special Surgery states recovery from Achilles surgery can be six to nine months until the patient can return to full activities.

Rodgers was forced out of Monday night's game against the Buffalo Bills on just the team's fourth offensive play.

After the team's thrilling 22-16 overtime win with Zach Wilson finishing the game at quarterback, coach Robert Saleh told reporters that Wilson will be “the guy” moving forward.
