Aalias Leonard helps Elkhart to Goshen Sectional title

Elkhart won five events to surpass Warsaw, 135.5-109, and win the IHSAA Boys Track and Field Goshen Sectional Thursday night.

Aalias Leonard was a double winner, claiming the long jump with a leap of 22-2. He also ran a leg of the winning 4x100 relay team (42.83). The other three legs were Zach Anderson, Rodney Gates and Nathan Munson.

The Lions claimed three of the five field events. Along with Leonard's win in the high jump, teammates Rae'Kwon Lemons won the shot put (53-7) and Trenton Bias won the discus (153-11). Elkhart's Max Malloy won the 1,600 in 4:19.54.

Northridge's Jaxon Miller brought three blue ribbons, winning the 800 (1:57.71) and anchoring in both the winning 4x400 relay (3:27.27) and the 4x800 relay (7:59.39). Mathias Hazen, Max Estep and Jaden Fisher were the other 400 members while David Gingerich, Trevor Schlabach and Will Knox were the 800 legs. Hazen also won the 300 hurdles in 41.18. The Raiders finished third overall.

Concord's Jaron Thomas won the 100 in 10.91, Jimtown's Bishop Williams claimed the 400 in 51.36 and Tommy Claxton of Goshen won the 3,200 (9:40.21).

At Plymouth

Michael Patipe won four events to lead Culver Academies to a 155-111, victory over Manchester in the Plymouth sectional.

Patipe swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 15.82 and the 300 in 41.39. He won the long jump with a 20-7 leap and then ran a leg of the winning 4x400 relay team (3:36.44).

Host Plymouth had a pair of winners as Carter Druzbicki won the 400 (51.41) and Carter Weedling won the pole vault (12-0).

Triton's Javan May won the 100 in 11.45.

At Portage

LaPorte had four victoies to finish runnerup to Chesterton, 147-127, at the Portage Sectional.

Willie Clay, Kamden Henriott and Tayshaun Williams came home a double winners for Slicers. Clay claimed the 400 in 51.02 and then running a leg in the 4x400 relay team (3:30.95). Clay combined with Chris Libera, Landyn Hunt and Williams for the 400 win. The 100 relay of Williams, Caleb McNeal, Henriott and Marcus Smith won in 42.55. Henriott won the long jump with a 21-4 leap.

Michigan City's Jeremiah Clanton swept the sprints, winning the 100 in 10.83 and the 200 in 21.91.

New Prairie had a pair of winners as Joseph Wykoff won the pole vault (13-0) and Isaac Fronk won the discus (151-8).
