5 things to watch in the Ravens-Bengals Week 2 matchup

Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow are set to meet on Sunday afternoon in a matchup that’ll see both quarterbacks play in an AFC North contest for the first time since resetting the market.

Baltimore is looking to snap its three-game losing streak in Cincinnati, and their star quarterback could be the biggest x-factor.

The Ravens have a 6-1 record against the Bengals when Jackson is the starting quarterback, and he’s 2-0 as a starter in Cincinnati.

With preparation continuing on Thursday, we’re looking at five things to watch on Sunday.

Bengals looking avoid 0-2 start

The Bengals (0-1) are in danger of another 0-2 start as they prepare to host Baltimore (1-0) in Week 2.

Joe Burrow had the worst game of his career in Cincinnati’s 24-3 loss at Cleveland on Sunday, completing 14 of 31 passes for just 82 yards days after becoming the highest paid player in NFL history.

all-time record

Baltimore holds a 28–27 advantage over the Bengals in the all-time win department in the series, but CincinnatiT has a record of 11-9 against the Ravens over the last ten years.

Marlon Humphrey still not practicing

The Pro-Bowl cornerback missed week one with a foot injury and during the Wednesday portion of Ravens preparation, Humphrey was again a non-participant.

The Ravens cornerback had foot surgery on Aug. 16 and was reportedly expected to miss about a month.

Gus Edwards the answer

With J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) done for the year, Gus Edwards gets his shot to carry the Ravens running game, or at least the running back by committee.

Edwards has averaged at least 5.0 yards per carry over his career and he’ll look to improve on the eight carries for 32 yards he amassed in Week 1.

Lamar Jackson --Joe Burrow duel

Baltimore plays Cincinnati twice every season, but star quarterback Lamar Jackson has only played two games against the Bengals in his six-year career, and none since 2020.

In 2021, Jackson didn’t play in Cincinnati due to a season-ending ankle injury.

Last season, Jackson the regular-season finale and the Wild Card playoff game in Cincinnati with a season-ending knee injury.

With both signal-callers inking life-altering contracts during the summer, Sunday offers a huge chance to sort out the quarterback hiearchy in the AFC North.
