Evans played Pop Warner football as a child, starting at the tender age of five. In a single season, he racked up a staggering 36 touchdowns.

In high school, his production didn’t stop. Over his final two seasons, Evans ended with over 1,700 yards and 25 touchdowns as touted team captain and two-time MVP honors.

Evans played running back at Appalachian State, where he was the Sun Belt’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2019 and finished with 2,884 rushing yards.

Before being drafted, Evans was learning what it means to persevere. His mother was battling courageously against cancer, but that didn’t stop him from showcasing his talents at the 2020 combine. Instead, it fueled him.

When asked how he handled this sort of pressure, Evans said, “Both of my parents instilled in me, growing up, not to let anything be a distraction and to make sure to handle my priorities.”
