5-TD performance, clutch playoff nights in Nashville area Small Class boys athlete of week choices

It’s time to crown another La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries Small Class boys athlete of the week. There were big Nashville area football performances as the TSSAA football playoffs continued.

The candidates are below. Voting will close Thursday at noon.

Montae Baldwin, Columbia Academy: Baldwin was a workhorse for the Bulldogs. He had 38 carries for 252 yards and four TDs in a 48-41 win over Jackson Christian. He also caught two passes for 16 yards.

Dallas Caffrey, East Robertson: Caffrey had 13 total tackles with two for loss. He forced a fumble and intercepted a pass in East Robertson's 24-7 win over Marion County to reach the Class 2A quarterfinals.

Isaiah Groves, East Robertson: Groves had 26 carries for 279 yards and scored three TDs.

Tyson Wolcott, Friendship Christian: Wolcott had 22 carries for 210 yards and scored four TDs in the Commanders' 35-0 win over DCA.

Johnny Jackson, Giles County: He was 16-of-21 for 262 yards passing and three touchdowns in a 70-29 win over McMinn Central to advance to the Class 3A quarterfinals.

Kamauri Turner, Giles County: He had 287 yards of total offense and five TDs against McMinn Central. Turner rushed for 106 yards and three TDs and caught eight passes for 181 yards and two scores.

Dawson White, Moore County: The quarterback was nearly perfect completing 12-of-14 passes for 176 yards and three TDs in a 35-0 win over Eagleville to advance to the Class 1A quarterfinals.

Eli Wilson, MTCS: Wilson carried the load for the Cougars. He had 27 carries for 247 yards and scored six TDs. He also picked off a pass on defense to send the program to their second state semifinal in three years.

Yates Geren, MTCS: Geren had 15 carries for 143 yards and scored two TDs. He added an interception on defense.

Jared Curtis, Nashville Christian: Curtis was 16-of-27 passing for 256 yards and four TDs. He also had 118 yards and two TDs on 15 carries in Nashville Christian's 45-38 win over TCA.

Riley Martin, Smith County: He was a perfect 12-of-12 passing for 185 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-12 victory over Fayetteville to advance to the Class 2A quarterfinals.
