5-star quarterback, LSU target sets commitment date

DJ Lagway is a 2024 five-star, 6-foot-2, 225-pound quarterback from Willis, Texas, where he plays for Willis High School.

He started in eight games for the Willis Wildkats as he threw for 2,081 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. The Wildkats finished their season 5-5 and failed to make the playoffs.

Lagway is set to announce his decision on Dec. 7. He is regarded as the No. 1 quarterback in the state of Texas by multiple recruiting sites, and he has narrowed his list to his final ten schools. LSU joins SEC foes Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida and Texas A&M as well as USC, Oklahoma, Clemson and Baylor.

Lagway has no crystal ball prediction at this time but according to On3, Florida is a 72% favorite to land the very talented quarterback. The LSU Tigers currently have seven commits for the 2024 recruiting class, a class that ranks as the No. 2 class in the country.

LSU already has one quarterback committed for that class in four-star quarterback Colin Hurley.
