5-star quarterback Arch Manning plans to visit LSU

LSU continues to make a run at the most sought-after target in the 2023 recruiting class: New Orleans Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning.

If you follow recruiting at all, you’re likely already familiar with Arch. The grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, Arch is a consensus five-star recruit and the No. 1 player in his class.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 215-pound passer is considered one of the best quarterback prospects of all time, and naturally, there has been no shortage of interest in trying to land his services. He’s been pursued by Ole Miss (his father, grandfather and uncle’s alma mater) and Tennessee (where Peyton played), as well as top programs like Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Florida, Texas and LSU.

He’s had a very busy visit schedule. He visited the Bulldogs last Friday and will be in Austin this weekend to check out the Longhorns. He has also planned a visit to Tuscaloosa to see the Crimson Tide the first weekend of April, according to On3’s Sam Spiegelman.

But he also plans to take time to visit Baton Rouge at some point this spring. The Tigers remain in the mix of teams to land the in-state player, and it won’t be the first trip he’s made to campus. Arch was also in town on June 14, and he had a home visit with coach Brian Kelly back in January.

LSU rarely lets talented players from New Orleans leave the state, but Arch could be an interesting case, given his prominence and the national attention he’s drawing. Beating out those other programs won’t be easy, but the Tigers will hope that visit is able to sway him.
