5 Bold Predictions for Week 7 of the Ocala-area high school football season

Leonard I. Sweet once said, “The future is not something we enter. The future is something we create,” and it couldn't be more true for Marion County football.

Trinity Catholic has a chance to fix its finishing problem in Clearwater. Forest’s offense will return to form as they take on Tavares.

The Star-Banner has put its crystal ball to work once again. Find out what we learned about the future.

Forest finds the midline

The Wildcats are on a two-game skid after their two lowest-scoring games of the season. It’s rare for the Wildcats not to score four or more touchdowns. It’s usually a negative for teams to regress to the mean, but when we’re talking about Forest, that means points galore.

Tavares isn’t a slouch, but you can’t keep a Wildcat down for long. A big win is on the horizon, favoring Forest by a wide margin.

Celtics find their conviction

The margins Trinity Catholic has lost by in the past three weeks (11 total points) point to several things, but certainly not a lack of talent. It’s almost as if they took their foot off the gas while controlling the game.

After a gut-wrenching loss to Florida State University High last week, there’s little doubt they’ll want to go through that again. Expect the Celtics to stay locked in through the final buzzer on Friday.

Vanguard makes a statement

The Knights had a dominant win against Belleview, and they pulled their starters after the first quarter. Statement wins could be on the menu for the rest of the regular season.

The loss to Buchholz certainly hasn’t hurt their confidence, but it's pushed them from number one in 3S to number three. Rankings might not mean much to the Knights, but if that’s not bulletin board material, I don’t know what is.

North Marion’s future takes a stand

The Colts are 24 hours away from the biggest games many of them have ever played before. The Vanguard and North Marion rivalry runs deep, and there’s no substitution for the environment.

It’s a lot of pressure to ask a squad with seven players with varsity experience to stop the Knights on either side of the ball, but they won’t give in easily. Expect a few Colts to make a name for themselves Friday night.

Wolf Pack gets first home win

West Port’s last home win was September 23, 2022. Fifty-four weeks and eight home losses later, a shift in the trend is coming.

Their opponent, Citrus, is 1-4 and has a 49-0 loss to West Port hanging over their heads. Change is in the air, and it’s favoring the Wolf Pack.
