49ers do-everything RB Christian McCaffrey scores touchdown in 15th consecutive game

Another week, and another touchdown for Christian McCaffrey.

McCaffrey, the San Francisco 49ers' star running back, scored a touchdown within the first three minutes of Sunday’s road game against the Cleveland Browns to extend his touchdown streak to 15 games.

McCaffrey caught a screen pass from 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, and inched closer to NFL history.

McCaffrey's streak is tied for the second-longest with former Buffalo Bills running back O.J. Simpson (1974-1975) and former Washington running back John Riggins (1982-1983). McCaffrey is in elite company – all three players are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Next up: former Baltimore Colts running back Lenny Moore (17 games from 1963-1964).

McCaffrey left the game in the second half with what was deemed an oblique injury. He returned briefly before trotting to the locker room and being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

McCaffrey’s touchdown came on the 49ers’ opening drive, which lasted 2 minutes and 44 seconds, and needed just five plays to cover 84 yards.

McCaffrey began his touchdown streak against the Miami Dolphins on Dec. 4, 2023.

The last time McCaffrey did not score a touchdown in a game was San Francisco’s 13-0 win over the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 27, 2022.
