What’s happening around the NFL today?

Quarterback drama. Literally, all quarterback drama.

Check out the top NFL stories below.

Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury wants QB Kyler Murray's contract done before training camp

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

“We’re about to make him the highest-paid player in franchise history,” Kingsbury said last week after practice.

It appears this situation is soon to be resolved. Any doubts about Murray’s future as a Cardinal can probably be put to rest, because Murray is about to get paid.

Wait, lowercase probably doesn’t tell the whole story. He’s about to get PAID.

How much?

$45 million per year seems likely, per ESPN projections. Whew.

Browns DE Jadeveon Clowney wanted to play with QB Deshaun Watson, for some reason

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

“After [Clowney] returned to Cleveland, there was a report that he accepted less money to return. There were also a few reports that Clowney was not going to return to play with QB Baker Mayfield but was excited to play with Watson once again including a report that the defensive end sold Watson on coming to the Browns.”

Maybe I’m not the right guy to give advice. But just a thought: If you’re super-duper excited to work with a guy who currently has 24 pending civil lawsuits for sexual misconduct, you may want to keep that excitement to yourself.

But what do I know.

Browns will literally pay to get rid of QB Baker Mayfield

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Oh yay, more Browns news!

“[The Browns are] willing to take on a fair amount of Baker’s salary,” said NFL reporter Albert Breer. “Like nine, 10 million dollars.”

This potential Baker-Mayfield-to-Panthers trade is taking longer than it should. If the Browns are willing to basically pay the Panthers to take him, then what’s the holdup? Do the Panthers actually want the guy? Are the Browns trying to give them Mayfield against their will? Are the Panthers feeling more confident in Matt Corral?

Answers, people! It’s mid-June — we need more exciting football chaos!

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson won't hold out

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

During a time of year where holdouts are common, it’s a breath of fresh air to see someone like Jackson be all business when it comes to showing up for camp.

“I play football,” Jackson said in a recent presser. “That’s what I’m here for.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for guys securing the bag. If a holdout is necessary, do it. Get your money.

But I have equal respect for a player who bets on himself. Jackson isn’t worried about playing on his fifth-year option in 2022. He knows his payday is coming. Let the play do the negotiating.

Hurry-up offense: 3 more quick notes

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Three more things to read up on, if you’ve got the time. (You do.)

  1. Bill Belichick could one day coach… lacrosse. Yep. You read that right.

  2. Daniel Snyder’s crappy workplace conditions are causing new legislation to be introduced. This legislation is a step in the right direction — and probably way overdue.

  3. Isaiah McKenzie says Giants and Jets fans attend games for hot dogs. The average ticket prices for Giants and Jets games were $171 in 2021, per SeatGeek. Those must be some darn good hot dogs.
