3 things the return of Josh Dobbs could mean for the Steelers

The quarterback room for the Pittsburgh Steelers is getting a little crowded. After getting Ben Roethlisberger a new contract, the Steelers brought in former first-round pick Dwayne Haskins to try and salvage his career. Now Pittsburgh has brought back Josh Dobbs on a one-year contract giving the Steelers four quarterbacks under contract.

Here are three things the addition of Dobbs could mean for the Steelers.

Quarterback no longer a priority in the draft

This isn't to say if one of the big five quarterbacks falls to the Steelers in the first round they won't pull the trigger. This is still a possibility if teams make a run on the top running backs. But with Dobbs in the fold, a mid-round quarterback like Kyle Trask seems highly unlikely with the other needs on the team.

No one is betting on Haskins

I am all about a good redemption story. But the signing of Dobbs isn't exactly a vote of confidence for Dwayne Haskins who is looking to get his career back on track. Having four quarterbacks in camp isn't a big deal but this puts pressure on Haskins that an UDFA wouldn't.

Dobbs has a strong group of fans who think he is a better option as Roethlisberger's backup over Mason Rudolph. There's no denying Dobbs is a better athlete and so it does warrant watching which backup is more at ease in the new offense.
