2A State track results: Florida High's Danzy goes back-to-back, Farmer wins as Seminoles boys place 2nd
Florida High Track and Field is coming back to Tallahassee with some hardware.
Competing in Thursday's Class 2A State Championship meet in Jacksonville, the Seminoles boys track and field team finished as state runner-ups with 49 points, three points behind the first-place Montverde Academy who had 52. Leading the charge for Florida High were two individual state title winners, Micahi Danzy and Isaiah Farmer.
Danzy defended his state championship in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash, going back-to-back and claiming gold with a time of 20.88 in the 200-meter, and posting a blistering time of 45.88 in the 400-meter.
He finished first above fellow Big Bend standout Delvion Zanders of Godby in the 400-meter dash. Danzy narrowly missed winning a third title, finishing second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.68, just behind winner Kennith Martin of Eastside who posted a 10.57.
Danzy added a bronze medal to his golds and silver, finishing third in the long jump final with a leap of 6.91 meters.
The senior was joined on the winner's spot on the podium by sophomore Isaiah Farmer, who won the boy's discus final with a throw 49.65-meter mark. Farmer beat Raines's Solomon Thomas, who threw 49.55, good for second place.
Farmer came into the meet on the back of winning the regional discus title, and now he sits atop the mountain as a state champion.
