27 MetroWest and Milford wrestlers to watch at the MIAA divisional state championships

It's time to gather the best wrestlers from across the state of Massachusetts and crown the kings and queens of the Commonwealth.

All three Divisional state wrestling tournaments will be double elimination beginning on Friday and concluding Saturday. The Division 1 tournament will take place at Newton South, Division 2 at Algonquin and Division 3 at Wakefield.

The top four placers at each divisional tournament will advance to the all-state tournament Feb. 23 and 24 at Salem with the fifth-place wrestlers as alternates.

Make sure to check out these 27 wrestlers on the mats this weekend:

BRANDON ALLEN, Tri-County

He won a sectional championship for the second year in a row, placing first in the Division 2 Central tournament at 132 pounds. Allen was second at the vocational state tournament, the Cohasset Invitational, the John D. Gorman Tournament in Rhode Island competing at 126 pounds and third at the 2023 Pentucket Holiday Tournament. He finished fifth at last year's Division 3 state tournament.

CAUAN AMARAL, Ashland

He won the Division 3 Central championship as the No. 7 seed at 190 pounds and is 25-13. The junior also placed third at the 2023 Milford Invitational.

AIDAN BAUM, Milford

The junior is 42-3 with more than 100 career wins already under his belt. He is the Division 2 Central champion at 144 pounds after placing second at sectionals and states a season ago. Baum placed fourth at All-States last year and has qualified for New Englands twice.

MARCELO BORGES, Marlborough

The senior holds a 31-6 record and won the Division 3 Central heavyweight championship. He took second at the John D. Gorman Tournament, third at the Ashland Early Bird and fourth at the Marlborough Early bird.

MIGUEL BORGES, Marlborough

The senior has racked up 30 wins this season. He won the Division 3 Central final at 150 pounds. Borges took third at last year's state tournament. He won the John D. Gorman Tournament in Rhode Island and the Marlboro Early Bird and was second at the Dan Balboni Holiday Classic. Borges was third at last year's Division 2 state tournament.

MICHAEL BOULANGER, Milford

He earned his 100th win earlier this season and is undefeated at 25-0. Boulanger won a Division 2 title last season. The junior enters the tournament as the Central champion at 138 pounds. He took second at All-States a season ago and place d fifth at the new England championships.

RILEY CARLUCCI, Franklin

The Division 1 West/Central champion is 38-3 this season.

KEVIN COELHO, Milford

The senior is 27-15 and battled to win the Division 2 Central championship at 175 pounds as the No. 3 seed. It was his first tournament win of the season after taking fourth at the Hockomock League tournament, third at the Milford Invitational.

ELLA COSTA, Bellingham

Division 2's No. 1 seed at 185 pounds has a 2-3 record.

LOGAN COSTELLO, Ashland

The freshman has already racked up 29 wins against just three losses and won the Division 3 Central championship. He also won the Milford Invitational in December and was third at the Ashland Early Bird.

ADRIANA DeGROAT, Framingham

The freshman is the Division 1 top seed at 120 pounds. She captured a title at the Senator All Girls Classic in January after recovering from a shoulder injury.

MADISON DOWD, Tri-County

The senior has compiled a 13-20 record and is Division 2's 132-pound top seed. She competed at the Cohasset Classic and placed second at the Senators All Girls Classic.

LANDRY FITZGERALD, Bellingham

He captured the heavyweight title at the Division 2 Central Championships and holds a 26-1 record. Fitzgerald also won a Votech States title, the Wayland Holiday tournament and was third at the 2024 Cape Cod Invitational. He was second in the Division 2 central tournament a season ago.

NATE GAROZZO, Lincoln-Sudbury

Division 1's top seed at 120 pounds is 33-6 this season. The senior won the West/Central title. He also reached the podium at the Brendan Grant Memorial Tournament (third), Dan Balboni Holiday Classic (second) and Anthony Lisitano Memorial tournament (second).

JONAH GINSBERG, Wellesley

The senior is 30-2 this season. He won the D1 Central/West title at 175 pounds and is a two-time sectional champion. Ginsberg captured a title at the Wayland Holiday tournament and finished second at the Dan Balboni Holiday Classic

KAYLEE GUIMOND, Tri-County

She's the No. 1 seed at 152 pounds in Division 2 with a 3-1 record as a sophomore. Guimond was second at the Senators All-Girls Classic.

ADRIAN GUZMAN, Ashland

He's 30-2 as a junior and fresh off a Division 3 Central championship at 157 pounds. Guzman also won the Ashland Early Bird.

ROBERT LYONS, Milford

He won the D2 Central crown with an emphatic pin at 126 pounds. Lyons is 37-4 this season with wins at the Hockomock League Tournament and the Milford Invitational. The senior took fifth at last year's state tournament.

DEREK MARCOLINI, Milford

The sophomore has compiled a 39-1 record en route to a 113-pound D2 Central championship. He helped the Scarlet Hawks seal a team sectional title. Marcolini also won the Hockomock League Tournament and Milford Invitational andplaced second at the George Bossi Lowell Holiday tournament.

LUCA MARSHALL, Tri-County

She is the No. 1 seed at 126 pounds in the Division 2 girls tournament. The freshman has battled to an 8-9 record this season. Marshall took third at the Senator All Girls Classic in Orange.

OWEN MENENDEZ, Marlborough

The senior is 35-6. He won the Division 3 Central 138-pound title. Menendez took first at the Dan Balboni Holiday Classic and was second at the John D. Gorman Tournament and Marlborough Early Bird.

BAVLY MIKHAIL, Holliston

The senior is 36-6. He won the Division 3 Central championship at 113 pounds. Mikhial also was third at the Brendan Grant Memorial tournament and Marlboro Early Bird.

MICHAEL MORTARELLI, Natick

The freshman won the D1 West/Central sectional title at 106 pounds. He's compiled a 40-6 record. Mortarelli also won the Plymouth Invitational and the Phil Tomkiel Holiday tournament and took third at the Sharon Lombardo tournament. The Redhawks won the Bay State Conference title.

ANTON PUHACH, Ashland

The junior is 40-3. He took first in the Division 3 Central Tournament at 175 pounds. Puhach won the Ashland Early Bird and finished third at the George Bossi Lowell Holiday tournament.

NORA QUITT, Ashland

The defending all-state champion is 20-14 this season captaining the Clockers' boys team. She also captured a title at the Eastern States Classic in January. Quitt , a senior, is the Division 3 No. 1 seed at 138 pounds. Her younger sister Kirrane is the No. 2 seed at 152 pounds.

CLAIRE RONEY, Wellesley

Just a freshman, she's the No. 1 seed in the Division 1 state tournament at 107 pounds. Roney has won two of her past three matches and previously placed third at the Phillips Academy Girls Wrestling tournament. Her teammate Natalie Barney is right behind her as the No. 2 seed.

JACK ROSENBERGER, Franklin

The junior is 13-2. He won the D1 Central/West championship at 165 pounds.

NATHAN TOBE, Wayland

The No. 1 seed at the Division 3 Central tournament rolled to the title at 215 pounds, pinning all four opponents. He took fourth at the Kevin Curtis Invitational fifth at the Wayland Holiday tournament. Tobe was fifth at last year's Division 3 state tournament.
