With the 2024 NFL Draft behind us, it's time we start looking forward, perhaps even beyond the NFL season entirely. It's never too early to start thinking about which star players will be available at next year's draft, and who your favorite team could take to help push them toward a Super Bowl victory.

Even with the draft less than 24 hours since completion, experts and analysts from around the internet have started looking ahead at who might be next year's first overall pick.

The 2024 draft class was one of the most coveted in quite some time, but the 2025 class could be even greater. With so many breakouts yet to come in the 2024 college football season, there is still plenty of time for the consensus No. 1 overall pick to change drastically. Here are the latest, or should I say earliest, 2025 NFL mock drafts.

NFL draft grades: Bears, Steelers lead best team classes as Cowboys stumble

2025 NFL mock drafts:

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, USA Today: Cowboys move from Dak Prescott to Shedeur Sanders

Middlehurst-Schwartz admits that these mock drafts are meant to create wild questions. "What is this exercise for if not ridiculous hypotheticals?," he writes.

In regards to Dallas' hypothetical decision to move on from Prescott in way of Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, Middlehurst-Schwartz says, "While there's plenty of time for Dak Prescott to iron out an agreement to stay in Dallas for the foreseeable future, the eight-year veteran hasn't engaged in any contract talks yet and can force his way onto the free-agent market – where he'd be sure to command an astronomical payday – thanks to his deal's no-tag clause. If the nightmare scenario somehow materializes for Jerry Jones, having Sanders take the reins to the Cowboys' attack would be a fascinating possibility – and one sure to be approved by Coach Prime."

Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports: Colorado's Sheduer Sanders, Travis Hunter go 1-2

While different people hold Colorado's quarterback in different regards, the consensus seems to be that Sanders will be a first-round pick. How early though, is up for debate. Quarterbacks like Carson Beck, Quinn Ewers, and Cameron Ward will all be in contention for the first overall pick as well. In regard to Sanders, Wilson writes, "Shedeur Sanders made huge strides in his first year as an FBS QB and he'll be in the conversation with several other players to be the first quarterback drafted."

Shockingly, Colorado will also have the second player drafted in 2025 as well, according to Wilson. Colorado's dual threat star Travis Hunter will go to the Tennessee Titans. Wilson writes, "Hunter is a special talent who looks like an NFL star on both sides of the ball."

Ralph Russo, AP News: Carson Beck goes first overall via trade with Carolina

Russo writes, "Teams bail on first-round quarterbacks quicker than ever, but let’s give Bryce Young the benefit of the doubt with the Panthers and pencil in the Titans to make a move up for Beck, who emerges as QB1 in his second season as a starter at Georgia."

When does the 2024-25 NFL season start?

The NFL preseason starts the week of August 9, with the first regular season game slated for Thursday, September 5, 2024. The teams playing in that opening game have yet to be determined.
