2025 4-star Tight end Davon Mitchell places Texas A&M among his Top 5 program list

Texas A&M now knows that they are clearly in the running for one of the top tight ends in the 2025 recruiting class, as four-star tight end Davon Mitchell released his Top 5 program list on Friday, which includes Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Miami, and of course, Texas A&M.

Listed at 6-4 and a whopping 245 pounds, Mitchell is rated as one many would call a high four-star by most recruiting sites, and even ranked as a five-star prospect according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Staying with 247Sports, Mitchell is ranked as the 2nd tight end, and No.1 ranked player in California, as he’ll enter his junior season at Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California.

Due to Texas A&M’s recent recruiting history at the position, specifically the 2022 cycle landing a trio of four-star tight ends in Donovan Green, Jake Johnson, and Theo Melin-Ohrstrom, it’s no surprise that Mitchell isn’t at least interested in what the Aggies have to offer for his future.

Overall, Mitchell has the size, speed, and blocking ability to excel in most schemes, and with two more years of development before he enters a collegiate program, this kid has a chance to become a dominant force at the position ahead of schedule.
