2024 Shore Conference Boys Basketball Tournament: Complete schedule, results

It's a tradition that began in 1937, when Keyport beat Atlantic Highlands, 31-22, to win the first Shore Conference Boys Basketball Tournament.

The 87th renewal of the area high school championship gets underway Tuesday with 10 opening round games, before the top six seeds jump into the fray in Round of 16 games Thursday. The complete schedule for the tournament is listed below.

2024 SHORE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

ROUND OF 16

Thurs., Feb. 8

(1) St. Rose 94, (16) Freehold 46

The Purple Roses got a career-high 25 points from junior Evan Romano, while freshman Avery Lynch added 21 points, senior Matt Hodge scored 13 and Jayden Hodge finished with 11 for the top seeds.

Freehold, which advanced to Round of 16 by beating Ranney, was led by senior Christian DiGiso's 17 points.

(2) Central 56, (15) St. John Vianney 44

It was another monster game for junior Jaycen Santucci, finishing with 27 points, including the 1,000th of his career, and 12 rebounds as the Golden Eagles advance to take on Holmdel. Senior Mile Chevalier chipped in with 13 points.

St. John Vianney was paced by senior Dylan Costa, who finished with 15 points, while senior Deon Jackson added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

(3) Manasquan 80, (14) Marlboro 30

The defending champions flexed their muscles against the Mustangs, getting a double-double from junior Griffin Linstra, who had 17 points and 12 rebounds, to go with 12 points from senior Jason Larned and 10 from freshman Rey Weinseimer.

Manasquan, which advances to the quarterfinals for the 13th straight year, faces a Toms River North team that beat them in WOBM Christmas Classic title game in December.

(13) Howell 61, (4) Red Bank 54

Howell went on a 20-8 run over the final quarter to advance to face CBA Saturday in the quarterfinals, getting 17 points apiece from D.J. Orloff and Cayden Parker, while Chris Meehan added 11.

Red Bank, which had won nine straight games, and beat Howell during the regular season, was paced by 14 points from Braydon Kirkpatrick, while Zayier Dean was held to just 13 points, and Trey Moore added 12.

(5) CBA 67, (12) Donovan Catholic 51

The Cols survived several challenges by the Griffins, eventually pulling away in the fourth quarter to advance. Sophomore Charlie Marcoullier led the way with 18 points, while junior Justin Fuerbacher added 16 points and sophomore Conor Andree finished with 14. Andree rolled his ankle in the third quarter and did not return.

Donovan Catholic was led by freshman guard Amare Walker, who finished with 15 points.

CBA, which advances to face Howell, had a 24-12 lead after the first quarter, as Andree tallied eight points. But after going down 41-24 late int he first half, the Griffins scored 10 straight points, pulling within 41-34 on a Walker 3-pointer. But the Colts pulled away again, going up 57-41 entering the fourth quarter.

Six straight points to open the fourth quarter cut the Griffins' deficit to 10 points, before the Colts pulled away again.

(6) Toms River North 63, (22) Shore 40

Toms River North set up a rematch of the WOBM Christmas Classic final, when they upset Manasquan to take the title, by advancing to the quarterfinals for a rematch with the defending champions.

The Mariners got 16 points from Micah Ford, but it was their defense, holding the Blue Devils scoreless in the second quarter that turned the game around. The Mariners also got 13 points from Sean Gathers, 13 from Owen Baker and nine from Jeremiah Pruitt.

(7) Holmdel 61, (10) Manalapan 59 OT

Nick Seeloch scored a game-high 24 points, with his five points in overtime keying the Hornets victory, while Jame Vallillo added 20 points.

The Hornets trailed 29-26 at halftime, and were still down a point heading into the fourth quarter. After taking the lead, Phil Pearlman tied the game on a putback with 26 seconds left, but missed a free throw after getting fouled on the play. Pearlman led Manalapan with 19 points, while Anthony Leger and Aiden Sosinov each added 16.

(8) Rumson 59, (9) Red Bank Catholic 56

Two weeks after falling to Red Bank Catholic in the regular season, Rumson reversed that result behind senior Nick Rigby’s 19 points, while sophomore forward Luke Cruz continued his hot hand with 18 points.

Trailing 44-42 after three quarters, the Bulldogs went on a 17-12 run over the final quarter to advance.

RBC was led by Colin Cavanaugh’s 17 points, while Luke Iasparro added 14 and Tyler Burnham finished with 13.

OPENING ROUND GAMES

Tues., Feb. 6

(7) Holmdel 65, (26) Monmouth 45

The Hornets won their eighth straight, improving to 17-2 as they advance to face No. 10 Manalapan, which defeated Toms River East Tuesday. Seniors Nick Seeloch and James Vallillo scored 30 and 25 points, respectively, to power the Hornets.

The Golden Falcons were led by sophomore Ahmir Wiggins with 15 points and eight rebounds, while junior James Curley and sophomore Jaylin Reeves each scored 14.

(8) Rumson 100, (25) Henry Hudson 65

Sophomore Luke Cruz scored 24 points and senior Nick Rigby added 13 points, as the Bulldogs built a 55-28 halftime lead en route to the victory. In all, 13 players scored, as they bounced back from a loss to Toms River North in the Metro Classic Saturday. The Admirals were led by junior Jack Fitzpatrick's 26 points, while sophomore Michael Fitzpatrick finished with 14.

(9) Red Bank Catholic 89, (24) Point Beach 66

The Caseys got 29 points from senior Pasquale Sabino, 19 from senior Tyler Burnham and 13 from junior Ryan Prior, setting up a rematch with Rumson-Fair Haven, who they beat, 71-63, on Jan. 25.

The Garnet Gulls were paced by 23 points from sophomore Jacob Edgecomb and 21 points by freshman Dan Cavanaugh.

(10) Manalapan 67, (23) Toms River East 55

Junior Aiden Sosinov scored a game-high 23 points, while senior Anthony Leger added 20 and senior Phil Pearlman chipped in with 14 as Manalapan won for the eighth time in its last 10 games.

Senior Jason McKelvey scored 21 points to lead Toms River East, while freshman Gabriel Feliciano added 12.

(22) Shore 41, (11) Colts Neck 40

A year after upsetting Brick Memorial in the first round of the SCT, Shore did it again, with the Blue Devils going on the road and knocking off Colts Neck. Gianni Fiumefreddo led the way with 11 points, while Alex George had 10 and Dom DiFiore finished with nine.

Colts Neck was led by Vova Trotsko’s 17 points, while Dillon Younger added 12.

(12) Donovan Catholic 59, (21) Southern 53

The Griffins advance to face No. 5 CBA, building a 28-18 halftime lead as junior guard Ryan Jacobs scored a game-high 23 points, while senior Jack Malek added 13. Southern was paced by sophomore Jake Sliwinski and senior Caden Schubiger, who each scored 14 points.

(13) Howell 57, (20) Toms River South 51

D.J. Orloff poured in 27 points, as the senior forward led Howell into the next round, pulling away late in the fourth quarter for the victory. They advance to face a Red Bank team that beat them, 62-58, back on Jan. 4.

(14) Marlboro 54, (19) Barnegat 48

The Mustangs built a 12-point fourth quarter lead, cruising to a home victory behind senior Dan Elmasri's 17 points, with senior Brave Haugh scoring 16 points inside and grabbing 11 rebounds and senior Steve Scimone adding 10 points, all in the first half.

The Mustangs have won four straight and eight of their last 10 games, as they advance to face No. 3 Manasquan, a 19-point winner over Marlboro early in the season.

Jamari Smith scored 23 points to lead Barnegat, including 16 in the first half, with the Bengals trailing 23-21 at the break.

(15) St. John Vianney 36, (18) Point Boro 34

The Lancers got 11 points from senior Mark Augello and seven points and eight rebounds from classmate Emanuel Domingo, moving on to face No. 2 Central after the Panthers missed a potential game-tying shot in the final seconds.

(16) Freehold Boro 73, (17) Ranney 55

The Colonials' victory was the program's first SCT win since 2010, and comes two years after a winless season. Junior forward Brian Tassey scored 22 points, while senior Christian DiGiso scored 12 and junior Aiden Hamlin-Woolfolk finished with 10, as the Colonials outscored the Panthers 27-10 in the third quarter to take command.

They advance to face top-seeded St. Rose.
