When is 2023 NFL draft? Time, TV, and what to expect from annual college player selections
The 88th annual National Football League Player Selection Meetings, better known to all of us as the NFL draft, is quickly approaching. This year's event, as in years past, is basically the Super Bowl for every team that didn't win last year's world championship.
Here's the skinny on what you need to know about the multi-night event:
What's the schedule
What: 2023 NFL draft
Where: Plaza outside Union Station, Kansas City, Missouri.

When: Round 1, 8 p.m. April 27; Rounds 2-3, 7 p.m. April 28; Rounds 4-7, noon April 29.
TV: ABC, ESPN, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes.
Radio: ESPN Radio.
What to expect
Aside from the dreams of hundreds of young men coming true in a instant, expect plenty of bro-hugs with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, snazzy hats like the one pictured above, and analysis from the likes of Mel Kiper Jr. with dozens of mentions of "upside," "potential" and "steal."
As for the Lions
As it stands right now, Detroit has nine picks in the draft, including two in Round 1 (sixth, 18th). In the last two years, both with general manager Brad Holmes at the helm, the Lions have picked offensive lineman Penei Sewell (2021), defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson and wide receiver Jameson Williams in the first round.
