2023-24 All-EBC winter sports teams: high school basketball, wrestling and bowling

The Eastern Buckeye Conference has announced its winter sports all-league teams for high school boys basketball, girls basketball, wrestling, boys bowling and girls bowling.

Lincoln Mallarnee is EBC Boys Basketball Player of the Year

Carrollton's Lincoln Mallarnee is the EBC Boys Basketball Player of the Year, marking the second straight year the Warriors claim the top individual honor after Jaxon Rinkes won it last year. Mallarnee, a senior guard, averaged 19.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 steals in the regular season. He shot 80.0& from the foul line and 40.2% from the 3-point line. Mallarnee surpassed 1,000 career points in the Warriors' final regular season game, becoming the eighth Carrollton player to hit the milestone.

West Branch first-year head coach Scott Loudon is the EBC Boys Basketball Coach of the Year. Loudon led the Warriors to the league championship at 9-1, three games better than second-place Alliance and Carrollton.

Sophia Gregory is EBC Girls Basketball Player of the Year

West Branch swept the top individual awards in girls basketball, with Sophia Gregory winning player of the year and Walt DeShields winning coach of the year.

Gregory, a 6-foot-2 point guard and a Youngstown State recruit, averaged 15.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists while shooting close to 70% from the floor through the regular season. She is the only West Branch player in program history to be in the top 10 for career points, rebounds, assists and steals.

DeShields led West Branch to a 10-0 record in EBC play, three games better than second-place Carrollton. It was West Branch's first league title since 2020, which also was the last time DeShields took the league's coaching award.

Josh Carman wins EBC Wrestler of the Year

Carrollton swept the top individual awards in wrestling, with senior Josh Carman winning wrestler of the year and Joe McGee winning coach of the year. The Warriors went 5-0 in league matches, earning the EBC championship for the third straight year.
