2022 MLB draft: Blade Tidwell selected by Mets
The 2022 Major League Baseball first-year player draft is taking place July 17–19 in Los Angeles, California.
The draft is 20 rounds and is being televised by MLB Network.
Sophomore pitcher Blade Tidwell was selected by the New York Mets in the second round (No. 52 overall).
The 6-foot-4, 207-pound Tidwell (3-2) appeared in 13 games for the Vols in 2022. He recorded 51 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA during the 2022 campaign.
Tidwell played at Loretto High School in Loretto, Tennessee.
The Vols won the Southeastern Conference East division for the second consecutive season, the league regular season and tournament championships in 2022.
