Even before Friday morning’s matches were complete at the 2018 Ryder Cup, captains Jim Furyk of the USA and Thomas Bjorn of Europe announced their afternoon pairings. For foursomes, where players alternate shots on a single ball, the pairings are as follows:

Match 1, 7:50 a.m. ET: Henrik Stenson & Justin Rose vs. Dustin Johnson & Rickie Fowler

Match 2, 8:05 a.m. ET: Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter vs. Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson

Match 3, 8:20 a.m. ET: Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren vs. Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau

Match 4, 8:35 a.m. ET: Francesco Molinari & Tommy Fleetwood vs. Justin Thomas & Jordan Spieth

Observations: Both captains are going with some matchups that have worked well in the morning, and both captains are emptying their benches on the first day. Sitting for the afternoon round are Tiger Woods, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm, among others. Rory McIlroy is back out on the course despite struggling in the morning round, paired with Ryder Cup beast Ian Poulter. Should be another fine session of golf.
