17 storylines for the Buffalo Bills’ upcoming 2022 schedule
Thanks to an added game which began last year, the Buffalo Bills will have 17 games during the 2022 NFL regular season.
Each of them will be fun. Why is that?
Here are 17 storylines, one for each game, in the Bills’ 2022 schedule:
Week 1: The game we all wanted to see

Week 1: at Los Angeles Rams (TNF)
The Bills open the entire NFL season in 2022: Buffalo will be the team that’s tasked with visiting the defending champs, which has traditionally become the first game of every season. This year, it’s the Bills at the Rams, the contest everyone thought would be last year’s Super Bowl–but wasn’t.
Shut down the King

Week 2: vs. Tennessee Titans (MNF)
It’s Buffalo’s home opener and Monday Night Football. It should be awesome.
But if we’re focusing on the field? The Bills have to finally figure out how to shut down Derrick Henry. Do not overlook him as folks seem to do so with the Titans.
Combined, in Henry’s past three games against Buffalo, he has put up 278 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Yikes.
Keeping up without Tre?

Week 3: at Miami Dolphins
It’s unlikely that cornerback Tre’Davious White will be back by Week 3 due to his knee injury suffered in 2021. If that’s the case, the Dolphins now have receiver Tyreek Hill and still have Jaylen Waddle. Buffalo’s secondary will be tested in a game they cannot overlook–This is the Bills’ lone divisional game before their Week 7 bye.

Week 4: at Baltimore Ravens
Yes, the Bills beat the Ravens in the 2020 playoffs–but this team is going to be much better in 2022. Simply put, do not forget how injury-riddled Baltimore was last season. A difficult game en route.
Does Mitch play?

Week 5: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Bills host the Steelers and Pittsburgh does play Buffalo very well in recent years. But the Steelers have former Bills backup QB Mitchell Trubisky and most will hope he’s starting and not rookie first rounder Kenny Pickett. Would make things more fun.
Also, stop TJ Watt.
The non-division rival

Week 6: at Kansas City Chiefs
The Bills vs. Chiefs has become the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts of the past. This needs little explanation, it should be an epic game where Buffalo looks for postseason revenge.
Aaron's Party

Week 8: vs. Green Bay Packers (SNF)
This one is going to be all about Aaron Rodgers vs. Josh Allen. Call it the battle of the 2020 MVP vote since Rodgers won it and Allen was second.
Regardless, that’s what we’re all thinking. Gotta be a shootout right?
Don't sleep on it

Week 9: at New York Jets
The Bills visit the New York Jets. Sounds easy, right? By this point we’ll have a feel of how good the Jets actually are, but Buffalo cannot overlook this game after the tough start to their schedule.
Diggs' revenge

Week 10: vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Bills landed Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Vikings. This week will be all about him.
Battle of Lake Erie

Week 11: vs. Cleveland Browns
The Bills welcome the Browns and Cleveland has so much uncertainty surrounding them thanks to quarterback Deshaun Watson. Regardless, it’s the Battle of Lake Erie once more.
More Turkey

Week 12: at Detroit Lions (Thanksgiving)
The Bills should be heavy favorites against the Lions in this one, but hey, it’s still Thanksgiving. Enjoy Turkey Day, Buffalo, your team will be on.

Week 13: at New England Patriots (TNF)
The Bills don’t see the Pats until very late in the year… again. This is their first meeting and most would expect these two to be first and second in the AFC East by this time. We’ll see, but it’ll be an important one as all division ones are.
Finally... home in the division

Week 14: vs. New York Jets
In some crazy way… this is the first time the Bills host a divisional opponent in 2021. What? Should make for a fun environment.
Squish the fish

Week 15: vs. Miami Dolphins
Back-to-back AFC East games–the Bills should be favored here, but one could imagine this game being huge for Miami and their postseason hopes. This could be time to break the Dolphins’ back.
Santa's waiting

Week 16: at Chicago Bears
The NFL is making a bit of an effort to takeover Christmas this season. The Bills become apart of that with their Christmas Eve contest against the Bears. Typically this holiday is basketball’s day but.. sorry, NBA.

Bengals and Bills, the 2022 AFC title game? The Chiefs and others will have something to say about that, but one could certainly imagine this game being a preview of just that.

Week 18: vs. New England Patriots
There could be a world where the Bills have nothing to play for in their 2022 finale. But who wants to think about that? Crush the Pats. Always. And hopefully end their playoff hopes? (If they exist).
