These 16 Gardner-area athletes earned a spot on the latest poll of top performances
Last week, the community voted overwhelmingly for the winner of Athlete of the Week. Aiden Bancroft of Narragansett basketball earned 78.57% of the vote, the highest percentage this winter.
Bancroft scored 12 points in the Warriors' game against Ayer-Shirley on Jan. 17. Coming in behind Bancroft was Jayden Jones, who scored 19 and 17 points, respectively, in two of Monty Tech's games in the week of Jan. 15.
Here are the top performances of Jan. 22-27. Be sure to vote for your favorite athlete at the end!
Boys Basketball
Jordan Pantojas, Oakmont
Oakmont basketball had a big week, winning all three of its games. Pantojas led the Spartans, scoring 22 points against North Middlesex on January 26 and 17 points on January 22 against Marlborough.
Steven Gauthier, Murdock
Murdock won a big game against Sizer on January 22, 53-50. Gauthier led the Blue Devils with 12 points. Hunter Kapp scored 11 and Jermaine Andrews had 10.
Aiden Walter, Monty Tech
Walter scored 16 points on January 23, leading his team to a 56-45 victory over Assabet. Jayden Jones helped with 10 points.
Corey Henderson, Narragansett
The Warriors notched a needed win on January 23 against Bromfield 55-48. Henderson scored 11 points along with teammate Aiden Bancroft, and Max Kauffman added 10 in the win.
Wyatt Tom, Gardner
Tom had a big week for the Wildcats. He put up a double-double against Ayer-Shirley on January 23 with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Later in the week, he scored 10 points to help defeat Narragansett 64-46.
Girls Basketball
Sadie Bauver, Murdock
Bauver serves as a constant contributor for Murdock and showed that once again on January 22 in a win against Sizer, 33-8. She scored 17 points for the Blue Devils. Cambri Langston added 6 points in the victory. Bauver was also a top scorer in Murdock's loss to West Boylston on January 25, scoring 17 points.

Meaghan Doyle, Quabbin
Quabbin had two wins last week to advance its record to 8-4. Doyle led both, scoring 13 points in each game – against Clinton on January 23 and Maynard later in the week on January 26.
Sofia Brierly, Monty Tech
Brierly helped lead the Bulldogs to a 36-16 win over Assabet on January 23, the team's second win in a row after a string of tough losses. Brierly scored 10 points and Kylie Neseran added 9.
Allie Fitzsimmons, Gardner
The lady Wildcats have continued to dominate since their first and only loss against West Boylston earlier this season. Fitzsimmons had a big day January 25, scoring 18 points to help defeat Narragansett 47-27.
Boys Hockey
Ty Burdett, Gardner
Burdett scored the winning goal in overtime to push the Wildcats 4-3 over Littleton on January 24. Gavin Richard, Hunter Barlow and Cullan White scored the other goals for Gardner. Richard (2) and White also notched assists.
Jayden Patel, Gardner
In a 5-1 win that clinched Gardner a playoff spot, Patel notched a hattrick on January 27. Ray Thomas and Matt Lupaczyk each added another goal and Mark Quinn had 16 saves in goal.
Indoor Track and Field
Seth Twarong, Quabbin
Twarong took first place in the boys 300 meter on January 24. His winning time was 38.90.
Sokari Jenkins, Gardner
At a Mid Wach meet on Jan. 24 at Wachusett Regional, Jenkins finished first in the boys 2 mile with a time of 10:54.30.

Jake Leazott, Quabbin
Leazott is no stranger to high scores in the shot put. He won first place once again last week, earning his title with a distance of 41-11.75.
Leah Deane, Narragansett
Deane won two events at the Wachusett Regional track meet on January 24 – girls shot put and 600 meters. Her winning shot put distance was 28-07.25 and her 600 meter time was 1:48.30.
Natalia Marchand, Quabbin
Marchand was another double winner at the meet last week. She was first place in the high jump (5'0) and the 600 meter (45.50).
