1 NFL team proposed huge rule change for penalties

NFL fans of various teams don’t agree about much. But if you want to unify all 32 fanbases, just ask them what they think of the way the league is calling roughing the passer. The league has gone so soft in trying to protect quarterbacks, they make life impossible on pass rushers.

However, according to NFL reporter Judy Battista, some help may be coming. The NFL Competition Committee is meeting during the NFL Scouting Combine and one team has proposed a rule change that would allow roughing the passer to be reviewable. I know, we all cringed a little at the thought of more reviews, but it is a trade-off we would have to accept.

No word on if the proposal would allow non-calls to be reviewed as well but we assume this would only apply to roughing flags thrown. If a replay is the only way to get officials under control when it comes to calling far too many roughing penalties for simple football plays, so be it. The NFL is already so skewed toward favoring the offense, this would be a step in the right direction toward some balance.
