The Philadelphia Phillies, who are suddenly in need of an outfielder have contacted the Toronto Blue Jays about Curtis Granderson, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The reports come in wake of Philadelphia’s recent move to send outfielder Aaron Altherr down to Triple-A on Sunday. Altherr had been limited to only four hits in his last 34 at-bats, seeing his average drop down to .171.

Philadelphia could also use the 37-year old outfielder to improve their current standing against right-handed pitching. The team boasts a middling .320 on-base percentage against righties, placing them eighth in the National League. Granderson’s .343 OBP against right-handers would be a nice fit for the team to add to their lineup.

The Phillies roster offers the second youngest assortment of players in MLB. With an average age of 26.6-years old, the acquisition of Granderson would offer some veteran leadership the team may need as it gets set for a run at the postseason.
