I've always heard, reliably, that the Colts never trusted that they were totally alone in the Colts' locker room in Foxboro, and that when Manning had something of strategic significance to say to offensive coordinator Tom Moore, they both stepped outside into the concourse outside the locker room. So if you're outside the locker room Sunday, don't be surprised to see Manning and his first-year coordinator, Christensen, huddling for a few minutes.
This doesn't mean Peyton believes there are guys in a truck sitting outside the stadium, relaying every conversation had in his locker room to an encrypted phone that's only activated by Bill Belichick's fingerprint. But, if true, it does indicate that he at least believes there's a possibility of something like that going on.
What is this, "All The President's Men?" Does Peyton put a red flag in his flowerpot every time he wants to call an audible? Does he have late-night, parking lot meetings with Tony Dungy, who passes along information he gets from Rodney Harrison(notes) during "Football Night in America"? And, if so, who does that make Belichick in the Watergate comparison? I'm going with H.R. Haldeman. In this exercise, Tom Brady(notes) would clearly be Bob Woodward, not because Brady is going to expose the cover-up, but because both Woodward and Brady had such luxurious, flowing manes.
