Yancy Medeiros’ Win Over Yves Edwards Changed to No Contest After Failed Drug Test

UFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros knocked out Yves Edwards in the opening round at UFC Fight for the Troops 3, but the outcome has been changed to a No Contest after the fighter failed a post-fight drug test.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship released a statement on Tuesday addressing the situation.

“UFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his bout against Yves Edwards at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 in Ft. Campbell, KY on Nov. 6, 2013.

“He was informed that his positive test violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. He agreed to and served a 90-day suspension retroactive to the event, and must pass a drug test before receiving clearance to compete again. The outcome of his bout against Edwards was changed to a no contest,” read the statement.

Instead of a 10-1 professional mixed martial arts record, Medeiros’ official record now reads 9-1, 1 NC.
