Wizards sign pair of point guards

Desperately searching for any kind of help to jump-start an anemic offense, the Washington Wizards have signed free-agent point guards Shelvin Mack and Garrett Temple.

The Wizards (3-22) have lost eight of their past nine games going into Wednesday night's matchup with Cleveland.

Mack, drafted by Washington from Butler in the second round in 2011. averaged 19.7 points and 7.5 assists with Maine of the NBA's D-League this season. In 64 games last season with the Wizards, Mack averaged 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He was waived by the Wizards on Oct. 28.

Temple has played 51 career games with Houston, Sacramento, San Antonio, Milwaukee and Charlotte since 2009. In nine D-League games this season with Reno, he averaged 14.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists.
