White Sox' Floyd to have elbow surgery

Chicago White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd will have season-ending surgery on his right elbow, and will likely miss 14 to 19 months.

The right-hander, who was hurt April 27 outing against the Tampa Bay Rays, will have surgery on Tuesday, after receiving multiple opinions.

Floyd, 30, will have surgery on the tear in his flexor muscle near his right elbow, and have his ulnar collateral ligament repaired.

Floyd went 0-4 with a 5.18 ERA in five starts this season. He's in the final season of his contract. His best season was 2008, when he went 17-8 with a 3.84 ERA. Floyd is one of four American League pitchers to reach double-digit wins in each of the previous five seasons.
