Video: The teams I don't want to see win the World Series

Since football season is upon us, let’s ask this question before we get to the meat of this week’s Open Mike video: How would you feel about another New England Patriots run to the Super Bowl?

If you live outside New England, I bet there’s a good chance you rolled your eyes or even GOL’d (groaned out loud) at the thought. The Patriots, even as much as you might respect their ability to be good every single year, are a tired story for many football fans.

So before any of you start calling me a hater or begin brainstorming new profanities to call me, please know that I’m approaching this week’s Open Mike topic from a similar place. When I talk about which teams I don’t want to see triumph in the World Series, it’s mostly about which storylines would make me GOL.

As a sports fan, I’m not alone in wanting to see something new and interesting over what’s basically a rerun. Most people would say if their favorite team isn’t going to win, they’d pull for a team who is a ridiculous underdog or who has an unbelievable story (More on that in our next installment).

This week’s Open Mike looks at the teams for whom a World Series win would inspire little more than a half-hearted “good for them” and a shrug from this baseball fan. Or, in one case, it would inspire a full-blown digital hibernation.

If those things make me a World Series Hater, I can accept that.
