UFC Set for Maine Debut in August

Olympic Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo Signs with UFC, Set to Fight Scott Jorgensen at UFC 177

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has never held an event in Maine, the state where company president Dana White graduated high school. But that's about to change.

White on Thursday happily announced that he would be taking his fight promotion to Maine's capital city, Bangor, on Aug. 16, for a UFC Fight Night event at the new Cross Insurance Center. The CIC is a 5,800-seat multi-purpose facility that holds upwards of 8,500 people in a concert setting. White did not disclose the set-up for the UFC event.

The event's main card will be televised on FOX Sports 1.

The Aug. 16 date in Bangor follows an already heavy slate of events for the UFC in May, June, and July. August had been looking a little barren with just UFC 176 and UFC Fight Night Tulsa previously scheduled, but with the addition of the Maine date and another pay-per-view likely to be announced for the end of August or early September, the promotion is showing now signs of slowing down in the transition from the summer season to fall.

No bouts have been announced for Aug. 16 as of yet, but stay tuned to the MMAWeekly.com rumors section, as now that a date has been announced, the fights are sure to follow.
