Suarez fined for biting opponent

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez wrote on Twitter and his Facebook page Monday that he has been fined for biting an opponent.

The incident occurred during Sunday's 2-2 tie against Chelsea.

"For my unacceptable behavior yesterday, the club has fined me today," he wrote.

He also wrote that wants the undisclosed fine to be donated to families affected by the 1989 Hillsborough Stadium disaster, which killed 96 Liverpool fans.

Suarez apologized to Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic on Sunday for biting him on the arm during the match.

He also apologized to the team and Liverpool fans through a statement.

This is not the first biting incident involving Suarez. He was given a seven-match suspension for biting PSV Eindhoven midfielder Otman Bakkal in November 2010.
