University of Kentucky free-agent forward Alex Poythress has agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with the Indiana Pacers, league sources told The Vertical.

For Poythress, 22, who went undrafted in June, this is essentially a make-good training camp deal – with an eye toward spending the year as a non-roster Pacers player on the franchise’s Fort Wayne NBA Development League affiliate.

Poythress missed most of Kentucky’s 2014-15 season because of a torn ACL in his left knee. As a senior, Poythress returned to average 10 points and six rebounds last season. An athletic small forward who can guard his position well, Poythress played for the Orlando Magic during summer league in July.
