Chandler had one year left on his contract and the deal prevents him from joining the free-agent market in 2016 when a flood of new television money will make for a rich market for talented wing players.

Teams with significant salary-cap room can renegotiate their players' four-year contracts on the third anniversary of the contract.

Chandler, 28, averaged 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in 78 games for the Nuggets last season. He has spent the past four-plus seasons with the Nuggets after being acquired in the trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks.
