The Miami Heat are trading forward Jarnell Stokes to the New Orleans Pelicans in a cost-saving move, league sources told The Vertical.

Miami will save $2.1 million in luxury tax in the deal and are now $2.6 million above the tax line.

Stokes, 22, is in his second NBA season and appeared in five games for the Heat.

He was acquired with Beno Udrih in a Nov. 15 trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, who received Mario Chalmers and James Ennis from the Heat.
