Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman Logan Mankins hyperextended his knee on Sunday, an injury the Bucs don't believe to be serious, a league source told Yahoo Sports on Sunday.

Mankins was injured in the first half and never returned to action in Tampa's surprising 20-14 home loss to the Carolina Panthers. The Bucs, desperate to bolster a struggling offensive line, dealt tight end Tim Wright and a draft pick to the Patriots for the Pro Bowl lineman on Aug. 26.

The Buccaneers gave up three sacks and rushed the ball 17 times for 102 yards in the season opener.

Starting running back Doug Martin also suffered a leg injury, but returned later in the contest.
