Son of late NFL star commits to Tennessee
Orlando Brown Jr., the son of the former NFL player, has committed to Tennessee.
The 6-8, 348-pound offensive tackle, who is considered a very raw prospect with a very high ceiling, chose the Volunteers over Oklahoma and Arkansas on Thursday, his 17th birthday.
The Class of 2014 product from Peachtree Ridge High School (Duluth, GA) had many scholarship offers from BCS-level schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Michigan and USC. But first-year Tennessee head coach Butch Jones continues to make an immediate impact on the recruiting trail for the Vols.
While "Baby Zeus" is a very intriguing talent, he has struggled to keep his weight down, which has led to questions of whether his footwork and quickness would be good enough at the SEC level. He weighed 450 pounds at one time, albeit in eighth grade.
But the son of the late NFL O-Lineman by the same name has recruiting experts and coaches drooling over the potential that he possesses. His work ethic, however, will be scrutinized until he gets his body into top shape for the rigors of the SEC.
