Sharks' Vlasic fined

San Jose Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic has been fined for slashing Minnesota Wild forward Dany Heatley on April 3.

Vlasic received $8,378.38 penalty, the most allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Vlasic was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for slashing at 20:00 of the third period. As a first-time offender, the maximum fine is the lesser of $10,000 or one-half of his daily salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
