Ronda Rousey Breaks Silence, Admits to Lengthy Injury Recovery

Dana White: Ronda Rousey Devastated Following Loss to Amanda Nunes

Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has finally broken her silence nearly a month after losing her title and her unblemished record to Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Nov. 14 in Melbourne.

Though the full interview with ESPN The Magazine doesn't hit newsstands until Tuesday, People Magazine had a sneak peak of the interview, which was conducted by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

Admitting she was “really (expletive) sad” about losing to Holm, Rousey also revealed some information about the injuries she suffered during the head-kick knockout loss. While many speculated about a broken jaw, UFC president Dana White had already debunked those rumors. We knew that she had to have a split lip stitched up, but in the ESPN interview, Rousey also pointed to some lingering issues with her teeth, which are going to take several months to be back to normal.

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” Rousey said.

Although that delays any early attempt to get back in the Octagon, Rousey wasn't planning on doing so anyway. Even before the fight, she said she would be taking some time off after the fight to fulfill several commitments outside of the cage, such as movie obligations and the like.

It could, however, slow whatever plans she might have for getting back in the gym to make alterations to her game for the rematch with Holm, which White has said is something that is a no-brainer.

As sad as she might be, Rousey doesn't appear to be deterred by the loss, just shifting her perspective.

“Maybe I can't do it all before my prime, before my body is done,” Rousey said. “But (expletive) it, maybe I can.”
