Colorado Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer and left-hander Christian Friedrich were placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday. In his first season with the Rockies after signing a three-year, $31.5 million free-agent contract, Cuddyer was hitting .260 with 15 homers and 57 RBI when he suffered a strained right oblique. The move was retroactive to Aug. 1. Friedrich, who is 5-8 with a 6.17 ERA, has a stress fracture in his lower back. He was scheduled to start Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. To fill their roster spots, the Rockies called up infielder-outfielder Matt McBride and right-handed reliever Edgmer Escalona from triple-A Colorado Springs.
