Reports: Wichita State freshman has surgery

Wichita State freshman guard D.J. Bowles, who collapsed during a workout last week, underwent an operation Thursday, according to multiple media reports.

The procedure reportedly was done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., though no details were available.

Bowles posted on his Twitter account at 6:02 a.m. Thursday, "Praying that I have a successful surgery this morning"

Bowles was stricken while practicing Sept. 3 at the school's basketball arena. The 6-foot-2 guard was taken to a Wichita hospital, where he spent five days while doctors tried to figure out what caused him to collapse.

The Cleveland, Tenn., product recently told his Twitter followers that "things are getting better every day."
