Reports: USC parts ways with offensive coordinator

Southern California offensive coordinator and running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu has been let go by USC head coach Lane Kiffin, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

The move comes two days after USC signed 12 recruits and was ranked as the 13th-best class in the country.

Polamalu spent three years on the Trojans' staff after being an assistant coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars for six years.

Despite a talented group of offensive players that included quarterback Matt Barkley and wide receivers Robert Woods and Marqise Lee, the Trojans finished sixth in the Pac-12 in scoring and fifth in total offense.

It's unclear how much control a new offensive coordinator will have. Kiffin called the offensive plays this past season, and said he plans to do so again in 2013.

Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin also left USC to become the defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys.
