Reports: Twins reach deal with OF Kubel

The Minnesota Twins reached a minor-league deal with outfielder Jason Kubel on Friday, according to multiple reports.

The contract includes a spring training invitation.

Kubel had a batting line of .216/.293/.317 with five home runs and 32 RBIs in 97 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Indians this year.

In 2012, he hit 30 homers and drove in 90 runs for the Diamondbacks.

Kubel, 31, returns to Minnesota, where he started his big-league career. He spent eight years with the Twins (2004-11) before signing with the Diamondbacks.

The Diamondbacks traded the struggling Kubel to the Indians in August. Cleveland declined to exercise a club option on him in November.

For his career, Kubel has a batting line of .264/.330/.455 with 139 home runs and 551 RBIs.
