Report: Standout Florida State defender out of the season

Although Florida State clobbered Murray State 69-3 in its opener, an injury sustained in that game could cause season-long problems.

Brandon Jenkins, a two-time All-ACC defensive end, sustained a foot injury in that game that is expected to sideline him for the rest of the season, multiple media outlets have reported.

Florida State officials have not confirmed that Jenkins is lost for the season, and coach Jimbo Fisher had said after Saturday's game that the X-rays on his foot were negative.

Jenkins had been scheduled to have an MRI on the foot on Monday.

Jenkins, a senior, could redshirt and return next season, although he could also turn pro because he is projected as a high draft pick.

He recorded 41 tackles, including eight sacks, last season, and had 13.5 sacks as a sophomore.
