Report: NFL warns coaches, GMs, owners about berating refs

The NFL notified owners, general managers and coaches that the kind of behavior directed at officials last weekend will not be acceptable this weekend, ESPN.com reported.

The notice was sent to all 32 teams after Broncos head coach John Fox, Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh were seen berating officials in a way deemed unacceptable by the NFL.

"We contacted them to remind them that everyone has a responsibility to respect the game," NFL executive vice president Ray Anderson said Thursday night, ESPN.com reported. "We expect it to be adhered to this weekend and forevermore."

Anderson said there would be repercussions if there was similar unacceptable behavior this weekend.

"If someone were to make that mistake, he would be flagged on the field and he would be hearing from our office in a very firm way," he said.
