Report: Hakeem Nicks will be at Giants minicamp

Hakeem Nicks has drawn the ire of New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin this spring for his failure to appear at OTA’s.

Hopefully, all’s well that ends well.

Nicks will participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp beginning Tuesday, according to Tom Rock of Newsday. According to the report, quarterback Eli Manning has been in communication with Nicks and Manning said the receiver will be there.

Manning has been in a difficult spot in OTA’s because he hasn’t had his two top targets to work with – Nicks and Victor Cruz. While Nicks’ camp has strongly denied his contract situation is the reason for his absence, there isn’t a compelling reason for why he hasn’t shown up.

Cruz will remain absent because he hasn’t gotten the long-term deal he has been seeking but at least Nicks will show. It’s a start for a Giants team that underperformed last season.
