Chiefs, CB Sean Smith agree to three-year deal

The Kansas Chiefs added another Smith on Thursday, agreeing on a three-year contract with cornerback Sean Smith worth up to $18 million including $11 million in guarantees.

Smith, 25, had 12 passes defensed, two interceptions and three forced fumbles with the Miami Dolphins last season.

On Tuesday, the Chiefs officially acquired quarterback Alex Smith, one of several acquisitions completed by the new front office team of general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid.

Sean Smith is the second major addition to the secondary this offseason.

His deal was signed one day after the Chiefs finalized a three-year deal with cornerback Dunta Robinson, who had been released by the Atlanta Falcons in a salary cap move. There is consideration being given to playing Robinson at safety alongside Eric Berry.

The Chiefs are well-stocked at cornerback with Brandon Flowers, their No. 1 cornerback last season, and Javier Arenas still on the roster.
