Reed drawing interest, not ruling out Ravens return
Ed Reed hit free agency at a time when veteran safeties are a dime a dozen.
The Baltimore Ravens' unrestricted free agent hired an agent, David Dunn of Athletes First, over the weekend to help him navigate free agency just as the collection of well-aged defensive backs multiplied to include longtime starters Quintin Mikell (St. Louis Cardinals), Adrian Wilson (Arizona Cardinals) and Atari Bigby (San Diego Chargers). Earlier in the offseason, Charles Woodson of the Packers and LaRon Landry (Jets) were released.
That puts them in a crowded market with younger options, led by Houston Texans Glover Quin, 27, and Dashon Goldson of the 49ers.
Reed is reportedly drawing interest from the Indianapolis Colts, where he'd be reunited with former defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano, and 49ers, who aren't expected to re-sign Goldson at his projected $7 million-$8 million per season price tag.
Reed turns 35 on Sept. 11 but hasn't missed a game the past two seasons. He has 61 career interceptions.
It's unclear how much longer Reed wants to play. His past two offseasons in Baltimore, he hinted at retirement but said during Super Bowl media sessions that he'll be playing football until his body won't let him.
