Reaction: Bears trade up, select QB Mitch Trubisky

If I could drop a few expletives here, I would. But that might not be a bad thing.

I had no clue that the Chicago Bears would trade up. I don’t think any of us did. Regardless, the Bears have their franchise quarterback, and his name is Mitch Trubisky.

The North Carolina alum was considered by many to be the best quarterback in this class. He’s the best decision maker in this class, is very accurate and is great at escaping pressure. He only has one year of experience, so expect his rookie season to mostly be spent sitting on the bench. However, once he adjusts to the NFL, he could be a very good quarterback in the NFL.

The Bears did have to give up a lot to trade to No. 2, though:

The deal itself could be worse, but it’s not great by any means. The two third-rounders will likely sting in the long run.

Despite the deal, I like the selection. Trubisky was my top quarterback on my big board, so it’s not as big of a reach as selecting someone like Deshaun Watson would be. Overall, very good pick, but not a great deal.
